One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

About Our School Council
Our Rosedale School Council is a great way to stay informed, meet new parents and share your thoughts on our yearly School Development Plan, student survey results, class activities, spending, and field trips. Parents participate in fundraising events, join us for the discussion of issues regarding the goals and direction of the school through the school council. Take a look at our School Council Website. Attendance at school council meetings is an excellent way to receive information and stay in touch with school developments.
Rosedale has an active school council and association. Our Rosedale School Association (RSA) fundraises for student technology, books and non consumable educational tools – consider signing up for our Casino nights and other RSA fundraisers.
Meetings are held once a month from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm. We also have an RSA - Rosedale School Association which organizes casinos every two years and provides funds for our school to purchase items such as books, computers and other technology. Volunteers on the Rosedale School Council and Rosedale School Association are needed, especially parents of students in the early grades who will be able to serve for several years.
